 As part of Flux Magazine’s ‘Guest Editor’ slot at the NOISE Free Arts Lab (a Guerrilla ‘pop up shop’ and creative space in the heart of Manchester), the renowned bass guitarist Peter Hook will be offering his words of wisdom at an exclusive Q n A session by Flux Editor Lee Taylor. This free, intimate event is open to all young creatives wanting to pick up unique advice to follow in the footsteps of this musical legend. Peter remains energetically devoted to music, rock and roll and the experiences that his three decade career has given him, with bands like Joy Division, New Order, Revenge, Monaco and Freebass, and now as a director of the new Manchester indie rock and roll club at the old Factory Head Offices, FAC 251 The Factory. Hooky’s been-there, seen-more-than-it all thirty years in the business has seen his bass playing redefine the role and inspire countless young musicians across seminal classics such as “Love Will Tear Us Apart”, “Atmosphere”, “Ceremony”, “Thieves Like Us”, “Regret”, “What Do You Want From Me?” and more. It has been said that Hooky writes the bassline to our lives. With the honour of being portrayed in two major films “24 Hour Party People” and “Control”, Hooky has recently completed recording work on his upcoming Freebass project, has been Djing throughout the UK, Europe and the world, and also released his debut book “The Hacienda – How Not To Run A Club” to great critical acclaim in late 2009. Along with old friend Tokyo Industries Aaron Mellor, Hooky is a co-owner of FAC 251 The Factory and it was with the acquisition of the old Factory Head Offices, Aaron persuaded Hooky that now was the time for him to re-enter the club game. Hooky is to be presenting nights, performing at the club and as well as booking for the venue. 24 February 2010 Starting at 6pm also on the same day  Continuing FLUX's residency, fine artist Doug Fishbone is hosting a live presentation of his creative process, and you can ask any questions you might have about his career so far. Doug was recently voted one of the Future Greats of the art world in the annual survey of Art Review magazine, so take advantage of his appearance at the LAB before he is too famous to talk to us! Doug Fishbone is an American artist living and working in London. He earned an MA in Fine Art degree at Goldsmiths College in 2003 and was awarded the Beck’s Futures Prize for Student Film and Video in 2004. He is perhaps best known for his project 30,000 Bananas - a huge mountain of ripe bananas installed in the middle of London's Trafalgar Square and later given away free to the audience - in October 2004. 24 February 2010 Starting at 5pm also on the same day Creating Your Fashion Identity In The Music Business 
On the 24th March, NOISE LAB welcomes fashion stylist, Sara Darling, who has styled the likes of the Arctic Monkeys, the Kaiser Chiefs, Ellie Goulding, Kasabian, The Feeling amongst many others, who'll host a visual image workshop. A band's appearance is so important in videos and PAs. It can make or break a fan base!
